Overcoming Apathy With The Power Of Attraction comfortzone Have you ever known someone who always seemed to boost your energy or just made you feel better when he or she was around In contrast, have you ever known someone who seemed to drain your energy or someone whom you were always trying to avoid This is an example of the positive and negative forces of attraction at work, respectively. Quite often, the power of attraction can be and is used by people for their own self-interest. But the effective leader uses the power of attraction to counterbalance the forces of apathy by avoiding the secure comfort zone of self-centeredness. Effective leadership is not a manipulative facade by a charismatic personality. In fact, manipulation plays no part in the genuine power of attraction. I have discovered through experience that there are five absolutes that form the foundation for the power of attraction: 1. Focus on Others First Effective leaders always deliver measurable results by developing the strengths of those around them, demanding the best from people by building on their strengths rather than focusing on their weaknesses. comfortzonebook Effective leaders are always encouragers whose first consideration regarding a decision is, "How will this decision best benefit those involved". Focusing on others first does not mean that you disregard your own best interest, however. Self-interest is always a vital part of the equation, but never first. Self-centeredness comes from the habit of always considering self first. The forces of apathy are at play here - self-centeredness represents the security of a psychological comfort zone. But the effective leader focuses on others first and, as a result, attracts buy-in, cooperation, and commitment! 2. Commitment and Resolve Are Consistently Attractive A very important ingredient in the power of attraction is being goal-directed. People are not attracted to aimless drifters. An attitude of I'm-just-trying-this-out-for-awhile-to-s ee-if-it-will-work is not attractive, and others can read that apathetic non-commitment like a book. The power of attraction is built on clear direction, firm commitment, and resolve. You may be fearful, uncertain, and insecure, but if you have the resolve to do what it takes for as long as it takes, you will succeed. Others will see that resolve and be attracted to it. 3. A Positive Self-Image is Worth More Than Gold A positive self-image counterbalances the natural forces of apathy by never allowing self-doubt to become a comfort zone of security. You can discover whether your self-image is positive or negative by simply listening to your self-talk, whether it is verbal or silent. Listen to what you say to yourself everyday and ask yourself these questions: Am I confirming my success or my failure Am I confirming my positive self-image or my feelings of self-doubt Everyone has fearful thoughts, but you can fight them by intentionally replacing them with a positive affirmation of faith. Repeating positive affirmations to yourself builds your positive self-image, and a positive self-image is attractive. 4. You Must Be Aware of and Attentive to How Other People See You It is important to know how other people see you and to evaluate their impressions. If you are serious about developing the power of attraction, pay close attention to how you dress, act, and represent yourself. We live in a physical environment, and we attract or repel by the impressions we give. The most unfavorable and negative impression you can make is the impression of pessimism. Pessimism is the opposite of positive expectancy. Pessimism is the language of apathy - it speaks of no change. The comfort zone of apathy is comfortable because nothing is expected to change. Pessimism is unattractive; positive expectancy is attractive. You must adopt the language of positive expectancy if you desire the power of attraction. 5. Confidence Is the Most Attractive Impression You Can Make Confidence always attracts positive outcomes. Now here is the catch when it comes to confidence: you build confidence from successful attempts. However, if you have tried something and have had zero successful attempts, your first human reaction is to stay in the secure comfort zone of quitting or blaming others. Yet no one has ever accomplished great things by quitting, and when you are in a leadership position, there is no one else to blame. What do you do then Find a proven system and stick with it until you begin to experience successful attempts. If you do not have a proven system, find someone who does, and ask them to help you build one procrastinating. You will build confidence and attract positive results! A Dream Within A Nightmare As a child, you are told nightmares Only happen at night And can not harm you during the day But they are wrong My nightmares are outside my nightmares Dreams are nightmares but with life No harm can come Lies all Lies, nightmares control who I am And who you are Huddle in the corner Crying and screaming Into the emptiness As darkness circles and surrounds you Cry and fight but lose all control As misery and pain become one Nightmares walking and running Around you The empty streets, playgrounds for monsters It's killing time, for those who are Afraid of what is to come and what has already come You cannot escape you what you dream Current Mood: devious | | Friday, December 30th, 2011 | | 12:02 pm |
Do You Make a Sale or Provide an Experience I recently came across a receipt from my trip to Italy last year and, rather than cringe in pain when seeing that receipt again, I smiled at the instant memory of the experience which it generated. It was one of the few nice days we had and I was sitting with my uncle and mother at an outside table in the center of Piazza Navona (Navona Square) in Rome watching local artists selling their works and people milling about. Why did I smile rather than cringe It was the "experience". I was immediately brought back to the people, the chatting, the smells, the feel of the warm sun on a winter's day, the sound of the Fountain of Four Rivers -- all of it, generated off a receipt for wine and bottled water. Are they happy they did business with you Are they frustrated Did you answer the phone with a smile Are your emails friendly or clipped In this age of technology-driven companies and recorded receptionists, are you providing your clients with a personal touch It's the personal touch, the feeling that they are special to you and your business that will bring them back again and again. With the Internet, clients (and customers) today are extremely fickle. They can quickly and easily "Google" another company that provides similar goods and services. You need to create an iron cage around your clients -- and you do that by creating loyalty. You should be the *only* virtual assistant or consultant or pizza company that they think of when needing your services. Now before you dismiss all of this and say "I can't do this, my business is different!", let's discuss some ways you can create loyalty through positive experiences. My husband and I went on a Celebrity cruise to Alaska with another couple a few years ago. It was the most amazing trip of my life. If you ask my hubby about the trip, he immediately focuses on two things: the glaciers (a little hard to beat those) and our waiter, Sanchez. Sanchez was, by far, the best waiter we have EVER had. comfortzone He remembered all of our names, our likes, our dislikes, our quirky requests, everything -- and this was after one dinner. We felt truly cared about. And how he added to our experience was reflected in the end-of-cruise tip he received -- five times the recommended amount. :-) Similarly, there was a local used car dealership which prided itself on caring about its customers. They even offered free, no-appointment-needed oil changes for as long as you owned your car and free loaners whenever your car needed repairs. One of their salesmen lived up the street from me and whenever I needed work done, he would swing by in the morning and drop off a loaner and bring my car back that night -- fixed and ready to go (including a wash and vacuuming). He didn't get paid any extra and he wasn't even "my" salesman. He, and everyone else at that dealership, prided themselves on the total customer experience. The result -- my husband and I told everyone we know how great they were and, within the course of 2 years, 16 people we referred there purchased vehicles. Not including my parents who originally referred us and bought two there themselves. Then they changed ownership and service was never the same -- the company quickly went out of business. Care about your clients and they will care about you. I have a client who is very relaxed in nature. She loves to laugh and joke and have a good time stop procrastinating. I have another who is very formal and serious. I enjoy working with both of these clients and personalize how I work with them so they remain in their comfort zone while working with me. I also do A LOT of reading and clip out and send things of interest to each of my clients as I come across them. It's not always about business, as a result of working together, I've learned their personal interests and send them things related to what they care about. In addition to my ezine and regular coaching sessions, I "touch" my clients, past clients and prospective clients, at least six times each year. Each "touch" gives them something positive -- whether it be holiday wishes, a discount on a new product or a gift -- and reminds them that I am here if they need me. As simple as this sounds, many businesses forget to thank their clients for doing business with them. Your clients have a choice -- they CAN go elsewhere. Thank them for doing business with you. Thank them personally, thank them in writing, thank them with discount coupons. . .just THANK THEM! If you have a client who is currently going through some tough times, do something to let them know that you care and will stick by them during this time. Whether you extend your invoice terms, offer them a discounted rate or otherwise "help" them during their time of need, they will remember it. It's human nature to want to do something good for someone when they have done something good for us -- let them "do something good for you" by being a loyal customer. These are just a few ways that you can give your clients a positive experience when dealing with you and your business. Have staff If so, you'll want to ingrain this in every one of them -- from the receptionist to the shipping clerk. Staying Committed to a Weight Loss Program and Making it Work Dying to get rid of those unsightly flabs in your arms and legs Would you like to replace your jelly like stomach with firm, impressive abs that will give the sexiest Hollywood stars a run for their money Here is a weight loss program that will make your slim, trim and shapely dreams come true stop procrastinating. Start with an honest weigh in and set a realizable target for the next four weeks. It is advised that you increase your target with each week as you get into gear. This means that if at the first weigh in you find yourself to be say, 300 lbs which is quite heavy for someone who is five feet and seven inches tall, you can start by making the effort to lose three pounds on the first week. And because it is assumed that you will get used to your healthy and alternative lifestyle and that you will not be cheating as you go along with the weight loss program week after week, it is only logical that you increase your target by at least one pound a week. This means that after you have become three pounds lighter on the first week which brings you to 297 lbs, you should be able to lose three and a half to four pounds on the second week which will bring you to 293.5 to 293 lbs. As you progress in your weight loss program, finally nearing your ideal weight, slowly bring down your weekly weight loss target and concentrate on sustaining your program. This means that as you approach your ideal weight you have to find your comfort zone in terms of the diet and the physical program aspects of your new lifestyle. You will find yourself slowly re-introducing some of the food that you have decided to get rid of in the first few weeks of the program, but you have to make sure that you do not go beyond what is actually considered acceptable and healthy. Simply put, do not gorge on the sweets and the grease that you have willfully decided to say no to on the first few weeks of your weight loss and diet program! Moderate your diet and remain conscious of your weight. This is not the time to abandon your program. The same principle also applies to your physical activities. Find a comfort zone. Ask yourself which exercises and activities can you sustain on a regular basis. For example, which aspects of the gym workout are you most comfortable with and which gym exercises can you do less without putting your weight loss and diet program in jeopardy. comfortzone If you are now able to walk to and from work or take the stairs instead of the elevator and not find yourself huffing and puffing your lungs out due to exhaustion, bear in mind that now is not a good time to stop. Sustain your weight loss program until you are able to adapt this program as a way of life. Changes need not be drastic and you need not develop a new personality. All you need to do is develop a health conscious persona within you. Current Mood: curious | | 9:32 am |

Come Out of Your Comfort Zone and Burn Calories Without Pain Coming out of your comfort zone can take you a long way in reaching your fitness goals. comfortzonebook It literally means giving up something that you enjoy most for your physical fitness. There are lot of comfort zones that keep you from achieving your fitness goals. Listed below are a few ideas that can help you out of the comfort zone and put you a step ahead in reaching your fitness goals. Walking for an hour can burn up to 500 calories, which literally means, every few steps you take on foot can burn up a couple of calories. The next time you want to get to your friends place or some shop nearby, try walking rather than taking out a car or your super bike. If you are not a big fan of walking, try taking up cycling. The point is to do something with your muscles that could easily burn up a few hundred calories on the go. You would be amazed to know the amount of calories you could burn up by doing such muscular tasks like walking or cycling. The idea of working out is to burn those extra calories in your body and bring that perfect shape. But every time you take a piece of that extra cream cheese or any other junkie, you increase your intake by a few thousand calories. That one piece of rich cream cheese adds too many calories that it could be burned up only after a weeklong workout. It is much easier and comfortable to avoid eating junk stuff, rather than eating them and then trying to burn up the calories by working out rigorously. The difficulty lies in the fact; the extra calories are usually stored around the hip for women and in the abdomen for men. These two regions are the most difficult parts to reduce fat. The reason is that they cannot be subjected to rigorous muscular training as we train the bicep or the chest muscles. Your personal trainer could help you with reducing the fat in the abdomen and around the hip, but it is a very slow process and you cannot expect quick results. Hence as said earlier, weight loss becomes easier if you avoid junk food. During workouts your energy level depletes largely and you require a whole lot of carbohydrates and proteins to sustain your energy level. Hence it is very important that your food contains a major portion of carbohydrates, followed by proteins and minimal amounts of fat. If you are a big meat eater, try cutting on your meat intake and switch to vegetables and cereals instead. If you are irresistible to meat, replace red meat either with salmon or chicken breasts as they contain high protein with minimal fat. You could come out of your comfort zone and give up rich cream cheese for plain cheese and save a few hundred calories stop procrastinating. Replace your fried snack with steamed or roasted cereals. It may not be as tasty as your French fries but could go a long way considering your fitness. It may not be possible to fully give up junk food and eat a full diet of veggies and cereals, but it is very much possible to restrict their consumption. Be always conscious about your diet. comfortzonebook Giving up your diet consciousness once in a while is fine as your tongue also deserves a treat, but you will have to make sure that junk eating doesnt become a habit. Create a Comfort Zone & Lose the Stress Knowing how to create a comfort zone in your life can help you lose the stress you are carrying.Whether it is holiday stress, work stress, or relationships that are causing you stress the answer is not in mor shopping, more smoking, more drinking or more of any of the other unhealthy habits that you may have. The answer is in creating a comfort zone in your life. What do you think of when you think of the phrase -comfort zone- Here are some common definitions of comfort zone: A place of quiet. goal setting Restful Needs are met Not too warm or too cold Pleasant to look at. By creating a comfort zone in your life to somekeyword you are taking control of your life and putting it back into perspective. You are choosing to make positive changes rather than floating along and getting knocked around by the things that happen daily. But how do you create that comfort zone This will sound simplistic but create an oasis in your home. Make it a place that is comfortable for you. Think of it as the seed of your comfort zone. If you can't swing a whole room then stake out a corner of the room. Clean it top to bottom;dust bunnies, cobwebs, clutter, and worn out accessories have to go. Put a comfortable chair there and a table to place a favorite book on. Add a somekeyword In your line of vision when you are sitting in the chair hang a piece of artwork that makes you smile. This area is not a place to fold laundry or pay bills. It is a small sign to you that you have a place of peace and quiet. Teach your family to respect your need for a comfort zone and not to interrupt needlessly. Give yourself the gift of time. Every day spend at least ten minutes of quiet reflection in your chair. You will probably need to schedule it because it won't just happen. No, you probably don't have time to just sit for ten minutes but-do it anyway. Begin to create margins in your life. Rather than scheduling things back to back, start allowing five minutes between appointments or responsibilities. If you work at home -leave the office- at a definite time each day rather than just working constantly. Develop a hobby that is removed from your work. Outdoors activities are especially good because they are a complete change from the ordinary. Go biking, hiking, horseback riding, or skiing on a regular basis. Take a class in pottery, gourmet cooking (unless you are a chef!), or quilting. Get enough sleep, eat right, and take your vitamins. If you have friends that are encouraging a bad attitude in you then reduce the time you spend with them. Bad attitudes, critical attitudes, and anger are all contagious. To create a comfort zone take yourself out of your rut. Many people think that their ruts are comfortable. This is not usually true. It is more likely that your rut is keeping you living with stress. There is something freeing about doing something different, a little bold or edgy, or out of your comfort zone. It builds confidence and adds joy in living. Get a little herbal help with the stress if necessary. Research indicates that somekeywordis as effective on most depression as conventional mediations. Be sure that you take enough. Many people don't have good results because they take too little. A little research should help you find the dose that it right for your weight and age. Remember that it will take about six weeks to hit maximum effectiveness. Small steps that can, over time, help you in creating a comfort zone and losing the stress you are under. Once you have taken these steps then begin to use them in other areas of your home and your life. Room by room and space by space get rid of the mess and clutter. Clean and organize as you can even if that means only working on it ten minutes a day. Replace things that are worn out with things that are beautiful and colorful. Current Mood: guilty | | 9:47 am |
Tips for Gaining Confidence Becoming an somekeyword can be one of the most unnerving ventures in your entire life stop procrastinating. Just when you thought you knew it all, you find out you're just a student trying to make the grade. So what do you do when your confidence takes a hit Follow these 6 tips for gaining confidence. goal setting 1. Start with what you know If you're a new business owner, start with what you know. If you know your stuff, in and out, you're bound to make a lasting impression with your clients and prospects. Create a specific outline to the benefits of your services or products, and then be sure to deliver what you've promised. Don't worry about being the expert, just start with what you know because that's where your greatest confidence lies. 2. Have an insatiable thirst for knowledge Your business will not survive unless you continually learn, nor will your confidence grow. When you don't learn new things, you cannot offer expanded products or service, and that is a somekeyword sentence to your business. The market and demand are constantly changing and if you don't change with it, you'll be left behind. The more you know the more benefits you can deliver to your clients. Keep somekeyword and you'll keep gaining confidence. 3. Know your target audience Most entrepreneurs think they know what their clients need and want, but rarely do they truly understand how to market and deliver the right products and services to the right people. Invest in research so you have a full snapshot of your market. Without it, you can only hope for successful sales and business growth. Survey your clients and prospects to learn more about them. The more you know about them, the easier it will be to create products and services that deliver exactly what they're looking for. The two most popular resources for web surveys are somekeyword and somekeyword. 4. Try something new every day We all get used to routines, because we like to stay within our comfort zone. However, it's staying within that comfort zone that keeps us from gaining confidence. Knowing what you know now will only get you so far - and I regret to point out, that is not very far. As an somekeyword, you must constantly push yourself outside your comfort zone to learn and do more. This not only benefits you, but it also benefits your clients, which will only grow your business. 5. Have unwavering optimism There are only two outlooks you can have on life and in business. Either the world is your oyster or it's out to get you. It is only the latter that will not support your success and confidence. If you are an entrepreneur and you think the world is out to get you, chances are it will deliver. Your perception is everything! Having an unwavering optimism will constantly be fed creative ideas to increase your success. Obstacles will melt, challenges will be seen as opportunity, and you will have somekeyword of mind that you can conquer anything. 6. Success breeds confidence When you are facing a situation that takes you outside your comfort zone, keep taking steps forward. Even if you have to take baby steps, at least they are steps in the right direction. Trying something new isn't always easy, but take action before the nerves have time to settle in. The longer you wait, the more your confidence wavers, and the likelihood you will talk yourself out of taking action increases. Remember, success breeds confidence, so if you have to take baby steps to make it to the finish line - that's okay - just keep moving forward. Being an somekeyword is not about being the expert, although you may one day reach that status. For the time being, focus on what you know and become the best at it that you can. Commit to somekeyword more, so you can deliver more to your clients; and your business is bound to grow with you. Continue taking steps forward, even if you stumble the first time. Don't worry, you'll get better with time; every entrepreneur has to find his or her way, and believe me, there is not one entrepreneur out there that hasn't stumbled along the way. The good news is that your clients don't have to know when you stumble. Continue to accomplish little successes along the way and know that your confidence grows with each step forward. It may help you to keep a log of what works and doesn't work, so you can go back and review it before taking future steps. If something didn't work, tweak it with a set of creative eyes and try it again. Eventually the pieces will fall into place and you'll become better at succeeding on the first attempt. Before you know it, you'll be beaming confidence and that will come across in everything you do - especially your business. Current Mood: aggravated | | Sunday, December 25th, 2011 | | 6:40 pm |
